Wyoming Fallen Heroes Scholarship Program

Since 2011, proceeds from the Tribute to The Great American Cowboy Rodeo and Concert were donated to the Wyoming Fallen Heroes Scholarship program.   
The WYOMING FALLEN HEROES SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM established scholarship endowments in memory of Wyoming military who have been killed in Iraq and Afghanistan. These scholarships are at all 8 Wyoming Colleges,and the University of Wyoming, thus keeping the memory of these Heroes alive, including Russel's own son, Pfc. Corey Hicks. 

These scholarships are selected based on the students salute to remembering American Veterans from the past or present. This is done with an essay showing the individual's pride and / or support for our American Veterans. It is open to any degree seeking student enrolled in at least 6 credit hours and have a G.P.A. of at least 2.0. Essays are evaluated on content, clear point, subject passion, spelling and grammar. The selected recipients essay can be read in an open forum. Families of the Fallen Hero may help in the selection. What better why to Honor our soldiers who have paid the ultimate sacrifice and their families who have to live on.  They will not be forgotten!
